DyShawn Hobson
Dyshawn Hobson joined the University of Tulsa staff as the director of recruiting and player development in May 2025. He is in his first season with the men’s basketball team.
 
He comes to Tulsa after two seasons as a graduate assistant with the University of Illinois. He contributed to consecutive seasons with more than 20 wins, which included the 2024 Big Ten Championship and an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance. He also led player development efforts for an All-American, five all-conference selections and three NBA draft picks. Hobson served as an offensive analyst for a top five offense in 2023-24 and top 15 in 2024-25, according to KenPom rankings. During his tenure with the Fighting Illini, he assisted with recruiting efforts and evaluation processes, breaking down film, reporting, outreach and scouting.
 
Hobson was a walk-on student-athlete at Oregon State for two seasons. He contributed to daily team preparation during the 2020-21 Pac-12 title and NCAA Elite Eight run. As a junior, he appeared in two games in 2021-22, grabbing a rebound at Colorado.
 
Prior to his time at Oregon State, Hobson played two seasons at Bushnell University. He played in 53 contests with six starts, averaging 3.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 15.5 minutes per game. He scored a career-high 18 points twice in his sophomore season, including a game where he knocked down six 3-pointers.
 
A Corvallis, Ore. native, Hobson graduated from Oregon State with a degree in speech communication and rhetoric in My 2023. He earned his master’s of strategic brand communication from Illinois in December of 2024
