Former Tulsa All-American Ryan Pore was named as an assistant coach for the Tulsa men’s soccer program in 2013, was promoted to associate head coach in 2017 and is in his seventh season with the Golden Hurricane.
In his six seasons at Tulsa, Pore has helped TU post a 52-40-21 overall record, claim three American Athletic Conference championships and advance to the NCAA Championship three times. He has also been instrumental in coaching 10 Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week selections, while five players went on to play professionally, including Akeil Barrett (Orlando City, 25th Overall Pick, 2015), Tony Rocha (Sporting KC, 73rd Overall Pick, 2015), Bradley Bourgeois (Houston Dynamo, 2016), Jake McGuire (Houston Dynamo, 30th Overall Pick, 2017) and Ray Saari (Seattle Sounders, 2017).
On a conference level, Pore has helped coach 18 all-league performers, 25 Player of the Week honorees, 18 all-tournament team selections, eight All-Rookie honorees and two All-Freshman Team performers.
Pore returned to Tulsa after playing professionally for seven years, including time with the Portland Timbers, which competed in the USSF D-2 Pro League & USL First Division (2009-10) and was a Major League Soccer expansion team in 2011. At Portland, Pore tallied 25 goals in 52 games with the Timbers prior to the MLS expansion and played in eight games following the expansion. He also competed in 11 games and had seven goals with the Montreal Impact while on loan from Portland. Before that, Pore played for the MLS Kansas City Wizards, where he was drafted in the second round (16th overall pick) in the 2005 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. He scored three goals in 58 games with the Wizards over four years.
During his playing career, he also spent time coaching the Blue Valley Predators (2008), Bridlemile Soccer Club (2009-10) and Tulsa Soccer Club (2012), as well as serving as a volunteer student assistant coach during the 2012 season at Tulsa.
At Tulsa, Pore (2002-04) became the program’s only two-time All-American, and finished his career ranked second in points (123) and goals (51), and became the first player to record three hat tricks in a career. As a junior, Pore set TU’s single-season record for goals (22) and points (55), and the single-game mark for assists with five. He was a two-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004, a two-time all-MVC first team performer (2003 and 2004), and was named to the second-team in 2002. Pore was tabbed to the all-Midwest Region first team twice, while concluding the 2003 campaign as the nation’s second-leading scorer and was the top scorer in the country in 2004.
Pore has a USSF National A License. He earned his bachelor’s degree in organizational studies from Tulsa in 2013.
Pore and his wife, Ashley, have one son, Luca, and a daughter, Stella.
