Lucas Rothenberger

Lucas Rothenberger joined the Golden Hurricane track & field and cross country coaching staff prior to the 2019-20 season.
 
Before coming to Tulsa, Rothenberger spent one season at Iowa State (2018-19) of the Big 12, where he served as an associate coach for cross country and track & field operations. During his tenure, the Cyclone men’s and women’s cross country teams won the Big 12 Championships, while multiple student-athletes garnered All-America accolades.

Before that, Rothenberger spent one year with the Pac 12’s Oregon State Beavers (2017-18) as a volunteer assistant coach. The OSU distance runners achieved multiple top-10 marks in both indoor and outdoor track, including a school record for the indoor 800-meters and indoor 5,000m events.
 
Previously, Rothenberger coached for five years on the prep level at his alma mater, Jesuit High School in Portland, Oregon. Overall, he coached over 70 all-league performers, had 40 all-state finishers and three individual state champions.
 
At Jesuit, Rothenberger coached eight podium finishing teams and three state champions in cross country and had one school record-holder for the 5,000m distance. In track & field, he coached the middle distance and distance runners, ranging from 400m to 3,000m, thus helping Jesuit High School to five state track & field team titles.
 
During his tenure, Rothenberger coached his athletes to school records in the Girls 800m (2:10.64), Girls 1,500m (4:32.38), Girls 3,000m (9:42.56), Boys 1,500m (3:50.21), Boys 3,000m (8:14.47), Boys 2-Mile (8:53.62) and the Boys 5,000m (14.29.42).
 
Rothenberger was a two-time letterwinner at Gonzaga University.
