University of Tulsa Volleyball head coach Lauren Ramatowski named Maggie Young to the Golden Hurricane volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach on March 11, 2024.

“We are so excited to add Maggie Young to our staff and to the Tulsa volleyball family,” said Ramatowski. “Maggie is an impressive young coach who stood out to us because of her professionalism, her attention to detail, her high work ethic and her desire to be great. We know she will have an amazing impact on our young women and our program!

"I am beyond excited to be joining Coach Ram and Coach Jacey on the staff here at Tulsa,” said Young. “The program is headed in an exciting direction, and I am thankful for the opportunity to contribute to that vision. I am eager to help continue building a special culture here at Tulsa and can’t wait to get started.”

Young joins Tulsa after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Gardner Webb, where she assisted the Bulldogs with practice planning, running practice drills, scouting, recruiting and managing gear inventory.

Before her stint at Gardner Webb, Young was a five-year captain and starter for Wingate, a standout Division II program in North Carolina. As a middle blocker for the Bulldogs, Young helped her team to five consecutive regular season championships and two South Atlantic Conference titles and earned AVCA All-American Honorable Mention honors in 2022 and third team honors as a graduate student in 2023. She finished her career at Wingate in December as the program’s all-time career hitting percentage leader (.365).

While leading her team to success on the courts, Young also worked for Wingate’s athletic communications department from 2019-2023, where she was responsible for camera work, graphics building and social media for the volleyball, baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, softball, soccer and field hockey teams.

A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Young earned her bachelor's degree in marketing from Wingate in 2023.
