Shannon Niemeier is in her first season at The University of Tulsa after joining the Golden Hurricane coaching staff in January 2022.

Niemeier came to Tulsa following a three-year coaching stint at Arkansas State (2019-21). During her time at ASU, Niemeier oversaw all aspects of recruiting, led the program’s operation efforts, including travel, and handled opponent scouting.

Previously, Niemeier was an assistant volleyball coach at Edmond North (Okla.) High School for the 2017 season before serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Oklahoma City University in 2018.

Niemeier played two seasons at Mid-America Christian in Moore, Oklahoma, where she  completed her career ranked sixth for kills with 598 and seventh for career points. She was named to the Mid-America Christian Team of the Decade, while earning Player of the Decade honors.

A native of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Niemeier earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Mid-America Christian in 2017.
