Tulsa Men's Basketball Downs North Texas, 89-71

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Kevin Johnson scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Tulsa to an 89-71 victory over North Texas on Friday.
Tulsa trailed 6-4 at the beginning, but then went on a 21-0 run. The Golden Hurricane's advantage crested at 39-14 with 3:41 left in the first half and North Texas never got closer than 14 points.
Marcus Hill scored 15 points, had eight rebounds and eight assists for Tulsa. David Shelton added 14 points and five rebounds, while Dante Swanson had 12 points, six rebounds and two assists.
Jason Miller scored 13 points and had nine rebounds for the Mean Green, which had 21 turnovers, 18 in the first half. Chris Davis added 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Tulsa held North Texas to 37.7 percent shooting and outrebounded the Mean Green 49-39.
The Golden Hurricane shot 48 percent, but had 23 turnovers, 13 in a sloppy second half.
