TULSA, Okla. - Greg Harrington had a career-high 27 points Thursday night to lead Tulsa to a 76-60 victory over San Jose State.
The win was the third straight for Tulsa (13-6, 4-2 Western Athletic Conference). San Jose State (8-9, 0-6) dropped its sixth in a row, all in conference play.
Harrington began the game with a 3-pointer and never looked back, hitting 6-of-9 from outside the arc. He was 10-of-13 overall.
Antonio Reed had 14 points for Tulsa and Marcus Hill scored 13. Mike Garrett led the Spartans with 25 points and Cory Powell had 11.
Tulsa led 39-23 at halftime, with 18 points coming on 3-pointers. David Shelton's long jumper put Tulsa up 21-10 at 9:29 and capped a 17-5 run.
Garrett's shot with 6:10 left in the period brought the Spartans to within 28-19. But Harrington accounted for nine more points before the horn, including a 3-point shot at 4:06 and a bucket with time running out.
In the second half, Tulsa picked up where it left off, with Harrington accounting for seven points, including a 3-pointer at 14:27 to put Tulsa up 48-33.
Garrett's bucket with 6:49 left brought the Spartans to within nine, but Hill and Harrington hit 3-pointers and Dante Swanson sank a shot at 5:08 to put Tulsa ahead 69-51.
