Tulsa Men's Tennis Suffers 6-1 Setback Against Tulane

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The 43rd-ranked Tulane Green Wave won the doubles point and five singles contests to hand 47th-ranked Tulsa a 6-1 loss today at the Harwell Tennis Courts on the TU campus.
With the loss, Tulsa dropped to 9-9 overall this season and 4-3 on its home court, while Tulane improved its overall mark to 8-8 this season.
The Green Wave captured two of the three doubles matches to claim the all-important doubles point. The Green Wave won at the No. 3 position, 8-5, but Tulsa's tandem of junior Pawel Sebastyanski and freshman Alejandro Tejerina grabbed the No. 2 doubles match, 8-4. The deciding match came down to the top spot where TU's 30-ranked duo of juniors Dane McGregor and Shriranga Sudhakara came up short to Tulane's sixth-ranked combination of Michael Kogan and Mikko Viljaren, 9-8.
In singles action, Tulane's Victor Romero eased past Sebastyanski at the No. 2 position, 6-2, 6-0. The Green Wave increased their lead to 3-0 when Viljanen defeated Sudhakara, 7-6, 6-0, at the No. 3 position.
Tulsa earned its lone point of the match and avoided a shutout when junior Sean Monk downed Goran Vasiljevic, 6-1, 7-6, at the No. 4 spot. But the Green Wave clinched the deciding fourth match point when Jorge Lievano topped Tejerina, 7-6, 6-4, at the No. 4 slot.
In a battle between two of the nation's nationally-ranked singles players, Tulane's 42nd-ranked Michael Kogan saddled McGregor with just his second loss of the spring ina 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, triumph at the No. 1 position. After winning his first set, Tulsa senior Micah Zomer lost the second and third set to Mattias Westerberg, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 6 singles spot.
Tulsa returns to the hardcourts this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when the Golden Hurricane faces Atlantic Coast Conference member North Carolina State at the Harwell Tennis Courts.
