Tulsa Travels to Drury, Hosts Metro State:
This week, Tulsa (3-4) will look to end a two-game losing streak when it plays at Drury (3-1) on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 7:00 p.m. TU leads the series with the Panthers, 5-1. A year ago in Tulsa, the Golden Hurricane defeated Drury, 4-2.

After the Drury contest, Tulsa returns home to face Metropolitan State (5-4-1) on Sunday, September 30 at 2:35 p.m. The Golden Hurricane and Roadrunners have met on the soccer field just one time prior to Sunday's game. The year was 1982, TU's third season of men's soccer, and Tulsa escaped Denver with a 1-0 overtime victory for a 1-0 lead in the all-time series.

TU Blanks Oral Roberts, Drops Consecutive Games at Yale Tournament:
The Hurricane completed last week with a 1-2 record. Tulsa began the week on a promising note with a 2-0 shutout victory over cross-town rival Oral Roberts at home. Junior Mario Gonzalez (Santa Ana, Calif.) scored the game's first goal with 20 minutes remaining in the first half. TU put ORU away late in the second half when sophomore Stephen Warwick (Morpeth, England) corralled teammate Cale Lalumia's (Mesquite, Texas) deflected shot and tapped it into the Golden Eagles net to give the Hurricane a 2-0 advantage.

Tulsa dropped back-to-back games at the Yale Tournamnent to Yale (1-0) and Brown (5-0).

Gonzalez's Scoring Carrying Tulsa:
Tulsa midfielder Mario Gonzalez continues to provide the Hurricane with an offensive punch. Gonzalez leads the Hurricane in scoring this season with three goals and two assists for eight points. This past week, he sparked TU's victory over Oral Roberts with his first half goal, which proved to be the game-winner. Gonzalez has scored a goal or earned an assist in four of TU's seven games this season.

McIntosh Nearing TU's Career Coaching Mark:
Tulsa Head Coach Tom McIntosh, who is in his seventh season at TU, is just four wins shy of becoming the school's winningest head coach. He needs just three wins to tie Randy Waldrum's (1989-94) school record of 66 wins. McIntosh, whose tenure is the longest in the 20-year history of the TU men's soccer program, boasts a career head coaching mark of 63-51-6.

Lalumia Giving TU Immediate Contributions:
With the seven games under their belt, the 2001 freshmen class is living up to its top-25 billing. The Hurricane frosh has contributed one goal and three assists for five points. Tulsa has totalled five assists this season and three have come from a freshman. One of TU's newcomers who is making an immediate impact is midfielder Cale Lalumia. Lalumia has played in six games this season and has one assist. Lalumia was born with his left arm ending at the elbow, but that hasn't stopped him from playing Division I soccer. Lalumia prepped at North Mesquite High School and was one of the area's top scorers. While growing up in Mesquite he played many different sports including basketball, but gave up other sports to concentrate on soccer.

Player Notes:
Sophomore Kenny Infante (Carrollton, Texas) is in his first season at Tulsa after spending the 2000 season as a member of the Radford University men's team. As a freshman at Radford, Infante produced five goals and six assists for 16 points, while starting 10 of 17 games.

Team Notes:
Tulsa's 5-0 loss to Brown was the Hurricane's worst loss since a similar 5-0 defeat to then sixth-ranked Saint Louis in 1998. The loss marked the first time Tulsa has lost a game by more than one goals since a 4-0 defeat to No. 20 SMU in 1999, a streak of 27 games.

Tulsa's games this week with Drury and this weekend against Metropolitan State marks the final non-conference games of the season for TU. The Hurricane will begin Missouri Valley Conference play with back-to-back road games at Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky during the first week of October.

The last time TU began the season with a 3-4 record was 1999. During that season, Tulsa won six of its final 10 games and finished with a 9-8 overall record.
