Tulsa's Fernandez Earns WAC Golfer of the Month Award

Denver, Colo. - University of Tulsa golfer Christine Fernandez was named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for November, it was announced today by the league office.

Fernandez, a freshman from Henderson, Nevada, placed third overall in a field of 60 golfers at the Landfall Tradition, November 1-3, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She led Tulsa to the team title, while carding rounds of 75-71-74 for a 220 total. The third-place performance was not only her best finish of the season, but was also the best finish for any team member in four fall tournaments.

The monthly award was the first for the Hurricane this year. In four fall tournaments, Fernandez had a team-best 75.5-stroke average.
