Tempe, Arizona - The Tulsa women's golf squad captured the team title at the PING/ASU Invitational with a final round of two-under par 286 on Sunday at the par-72 Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Arizona.
The Hurricane scored a 54-hole total of seven-over par 871 for a six-stroke win over second place Arizona State. The Sun Devils scored an 877 on their home course, and were followed in the standings by Arizona (881), UCLA (883) and California (890) rounding out the top five teams.
The win is the third of the season for the Hurricane, and the second in four spring tournaments. Tulsa's other titles this year came at the Stanford Intercollegiate in the fall, and the TRW Regional Challenge in February.
Senior All-American Stacy Prammanasudh finished in third-place with a four-under par score of 212. Arizona's Lorena Ochoa placed first with a nine-under 207 score, while Arizona State's Jimin Kang finished in second place after scoring a six-under par 66 on Sunday for a five-under par total of 211.
It was a solid team effort for the Hurricane. Prammanasudh's round of 73 today did not count in Tulsa's team scoring as the other four Hurricane golfers each shot better than her one-over par score. Junior Maiko Senda and sophomore Julie Tvede each scored one-under par rounds of 71 today, while an even-par 72 was shot by both senior Dani Mallon and sophomore Suzie Fisher.
Senda finished in a sixth-place tie with a 54-hole total of two-over par 218, while Mallon was one stroke back in an eighth-place tie with a three-over par total of 219. Fisher's 228 score was good for 41st place, while Tvede finished in a 49th place tie with a 230 total.
The Hurricane is in action next at the Western Athletic Conference Championship in Reno, Nevada, April 22-24. Tulsa has won the past three WAC titles.
