Olson Set to Compete at The Women’s Amateur Championship

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa women's golfer Samantha Olson will compete in The Women's Amateur Championship, conducted by The R&A, June 22-27 at Muirfield in Gullane, Scotland. The championship is one of the most prestigious events in women's amateur golf and annually attracts an elite international field.
Olson will begin play on Monday, with a tee time set for 7:40 a.m. She will be playing with Ebba Liljeberg and Francesca Fiorellini. For more information on The Women's Amateur, click here.
Olson enters the championship following a standout sophomore season for the Golden Hurricane. She earned American Conference All-Conference honors and helped lead Tulsa to its second consecutive American Conference Championship. Olson paced the Golden Hurricane with a team-best 72.6 scoring average and recorded two runner-up finishes during the season, including a second-place finish at the American Conference Championship.
Founded in 1893, The Women's Amateur Championship is one of the oldest and most respected championships in amateur golf. The event begins with 36 holes of stroke play before the field is cut to the top 64 players for match play competition.
The winner of The Women's Amateur Championship will gain exemptions to the AIG Women's Open, US Women's Open, The Amundi Evian Championship, Chevron Championship and Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship. For the first time this year, the winner will also be exempt for The Standard Portland Classic at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.
Muirfield, one of the most historic venues in golf, will host the championship in 2026. The championship marks another opportunity for Olson to compete on the international stage following one of the most successful seasons in recent Tulsa Women's Golf history.
