McConnell-Miller Withdraws From Consideration for Vanderbilt Coaching Position

Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa Head Women's Basketball Coach Kathy McConnell-Miller withdrew her name from consideration for the head basketball coaching position at Vanderbilt University. McConnell-Miller informed Vanderbilt officials on Thursday of her decision to withdraw from candidacy for the vacant Commodores coaching position.
"Obviously the basketball coaching position at Vanderbilt University is a very attractive one. I'm surprised that this opportunity at a top-10 nationally-ranked basketball program has come so early in my coaching career," said McConnell-Miller. "I'm thankful to have been considered by Vanderbilt. This process has made me realize how fortunate I am to be the head coach at The University of Tulsa under the direction of Dr. Lawless and Judy MacLeod."
In three seasons as Tulsa's head coach, McConnell-Miller has compiled an overall 39-49 record. This season she led the Golden Hurricane to a school-best 17-13 overall record and a fifth-place mark in the Western Athletic Conference. She took over a program in 1999 that had combined to win just 21 games over the previous three seasons. McConnell-Miller's first Tulsa team posted a 14-15 mark, which earned her WAC Coach of the Year honors.
