Tulsa Women Golfers Place Fifth at the Dick McGuire Invitational

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa women's golf team finished in fifth-place at the Dick McGuire Invitational on Saturday. The Hurricane carded their second straight round of 302 and finished with a 907 total at the University of New Mexico's par-73 Championship Golf Course.
Junior Julie Tvede's one-under par 72 today was her best round of the tournament and the best of the day for the Hurricane. She finished the 54-hole event in eighth place with a four-over par 223 score. Junior Suzie Fisher and freshman Christine Fernandez tied for 18th place with seven-over par rounds of 226. Fisher completed the final round with a 76, while Fernandez carded a final round 77.
A pair of freshmen, Courtney Jones and Cas Bridge finished in 36th and 51st place, respectively. Jones shot a final round 79, while Bridge carded a 77 today. Hurricane senior Maiko Senda, playing as an individual, finished in 28th place with a 231 total after shooting a final round 77.
Host New Mexico held on to the lead for all three days and finished with a 15-over par 891 total to claim the team title. Washington and Pepperdine tied for second-place, while Oklahoma came in fourth-place. The Hurricane tied with New Mexico State for fifth-place overall.
Pepperdine's Katherine Hull and Oklahoma's Lisa Meldrum tied for the individual title with an eight-under par total of 211.
Tulsa will be back in action next at the Stanford Intercollegiate in Palo Alto, California, Oct. 18-20.
