TU Men's Tennis Team Falls to Michigan

Tulsa, Okla. - The Golden Hurricane tennis teams hosted a split double-header Sunday with the women facing Southwest Missouri State at 9:00 am. and the men hosting Michigan at 1:00 p.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at The University of Tulsa.
The Tulsa men's team, ranked 45th nationally, lost 5-2 to 48th-ranked Michigan. Tulsa dominated the doubles competition, winning all three matches, but fell 5-1 in singles play.
In doubles, TU's Dustin Taylor and Ryan Livesay defeated Michigan's Michael Rubin and Chris Shaya, 8-5 at the No. 1 position as freshmen Olof Sjolund and Shunsuke Shimizu came back to win 9-7 over Chris Rolf and Vineeth Gossain. Also for the Golden Hurricane, Alejandro Tejerina and Aleksander Charpantidis walked away with an 8-6 victory over Anthony Jackson and Josef Fischer at the No. 3 slot.
In singles play, Taylor netted Tulsa's lone point as he defeated Shaya, 6-1, 6-1. The Golden Hurricane fought hard in singles, going into three sets in four separate matches. The men are now 3-2 in dual play.
