BOISE, Idaho (AP) - David Mikell rushed for 139 yards, including a 5-yard touchdown run in the final minute, as Boise State survived an upset bid by Tulsa with a 27-20 win Saturday night.

Mikell's score gave the Broncos (5-1, 2-0) a seemingly comfortable 27-14 lead with 49 seconds remaining. But Tulsa quarterback James Kilian hit Romby Bryant with an 80-yard touchdown pass with 38 seconds remaining to cut BSU's lead to 27-20 after the extra point was missed. It was the second touchdown reception of the night for Romby, who caught seven passes for 148 yards.

Boise State's Gabe Franklin fielded the ensuing onside kick by Tulsa and Boise State was able to hang on for the win.

Trailing 20-0 at halftime Tulsa (3-3, 1-1) limited Boise State's potent offense to 34 yards in the third quarter and narrowed the Broncos' lead to 20-14 on a 10 yard touchdown pass from Kilian to Bryant in the third quarter and Eric Richardson's 21-yard touchdown run with 4:42 left in the game.

On Boise State's ensuing possession, Mikell carried the ball eight times for 42 yards in the final 4 minutes, capping the drive with his 5-yard touchdown run.

Tyler Jones kicked 25- and 52-yard field goals in the first quarter and Brad Lau and Ryan Dinwiddie added 1-yard touchdown runs in the second quarter as the Broncos took their 20-0 halftime lead. The Boise State defense limited the Golden Hurricane to just 4 yards rushing and 89 yards total offense in the first half.

Boise State won for the 29th time in 30 games and its 15th in a row at Bronco Stadium. BSU also extended its Western Athletic Conference winning streak to 12 games.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak for Tulsa and marked the Golden Hurricane's 17th consecutive road setback.
