Lady Miners Defeat Golden Hurricane in Five Game WAC Thiller

El Paso, Texas - The Lady Miners of UTEP defeated Tulsa in a five-game thiller, 3-2 (30-23, 31-29, 28-30, 25-30, 15-11) in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday night. The win improves UTEP to 8-20 (2-9 WAC), while TU falls to 11-14 (2-10 WAC). The two teams are now tied for the eighth and final spot in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament.
Senior Nathalia Araujo led the Golden Hurricane with a career-best 17 kills. She also added 19 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. Freshman Brie Penaluna and junior Kristin Bailey also contributed 14 and 13 kills respectively. Sophomore Evyn Bandy posted 43 assists, while also contributing a team-high 20 digs.
Tulsa will conclude WAC play on Saturday, Nov. 15, with a trip to Houston, Texas, to face the Rice Owls at 2 p.m.
