Tulsa's Boss, Haynes Receive MVC Scholar Athlete Honors

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Tulsa juniors Terry Boss and Michael Haynes have each been selected to the 2003 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team, it was announced today by the league office.
A 6'2" goalkeeper and native of Philomath, Ore., Boss started 13 games in his first full season as a starter at TU. He has registered 1204:21 minutes in goal and has collected 57 saves against 16 allowed goals for a goals-against-average of 1.20 and a .781 saves percentage. Boss notched shutouts this past season against Drury, UMKC and Stanford. He was named the MVC Defensive Player of the Week for the first week of action after posting consecutive shutouts during the first two games of the season. He was also selected to the Ohio State Classic all-tournament team. Boss is two-year member of the TU Dean's List and was named to the TU Athletic Director's Honor Roll as a freshman. He was named to the 2003 Academic All-District VI First Team last month and is a first-time selection to the Valley's Scholar-Athlete Team.
Boss has maintained a 3.92 grade-point-average in finance.
Haynes, a 5'11" defender from Coppell, Texas, started 18 of 20 games played and registered one assist on the year. He missed a game and half with an injury this season and the team went 0-2 with his absence. Haynes is also a first time selection to the MVC Scholar-Athlete team. He was an honorable mention in 2002 and was an honorable mention all-conference performer in 2001. This past November, Haynes was named to the 2003 Academic All-District VI First Team for the second straight season. He is a two-time honoree as the team's Defensive Player of the Year and a two-year member of the TU Dean's List
Haynes has maintained a 3.61 grade-point-average in finance.
The Golden Hurricane concluded the season with the second most wins in school history (13-6-2) and the best NCAA Tournament showing in school history with a NCAA second round appearance. TU also finished second in the MVC (6-1-2) and was nationally ranked for 11 straight weeks.
