Hurricane Dominates Cross-Town Rival ORU, 7-0

Tulsa, Okla. - The 51st-ranked Tulsa men's tennis team (10-8) dominated cross-town rival Oral Roberts, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus.
Tulsa's Tom Murray and Shunsuke Shimizu netted a victory for the Golden Hurricane in the No. 2 doubles position, as they overcame ORU's Chris Moore and Wessel Kemp, 8-5. Kevin Garlington and Eddie Paez, however, knotted the doubles point back up as they defeated TU's Ricardo Rojas and John Matthews, 8-5, in the No. 3 slot. Ryan Livesay and Dustin Taylor came through for the Golden Hurricane as they posted an 8-4 victory over Jared Welch and Matt Munson in the No. 1 position to win the doubles point.
TU's Livesay netted a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Moore in the No. 1 singles position, as teammate Aleksander Charpantidis finished with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 comeback win over Welch in the No. 2 slot. To round out the top-half of the lineup Murray posted a 6-2, 6-2 score over ORU's Paez in the No. 3 position.
In the bottom half of the lineup, Shimizu netted a 6-0, 6-3 win over Garlington in the No. 4 position, while Olof Sjolund finished with a 7-6, 6-0, win over Munson. Matthews also netted a point for Tulsa as he posted a 6-1, 6-7, 10-5 win over Kemp.
The Golden Hurricane will be in action this weekend in Texas as they face 38th-ranked TCU and 54th-ranked SMU on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
