WAC Tennis Championships Begin Tomorrow

Tulsa, Okla. - The Tulsa men's and women's tennis teams will begin their pursuit for the 2003 Western Athletic Conference tennis titles this Friday at the 2003 WAC Men's and Women's Tennis Championships. The three-day event will take place April 25-27 at the Boise Racquet Club and the Appleton Tennis Center on the campus of Boise State University in Boise, Idaho.

The 49th-ranked Tulsa men's team (12-12), the tournament's fourth-seeded team, begins its quest for the title on Friday when it takes on fifth-seeded and 56th-ranked Boise State beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Appleton Tennis Center.

The winner of the Tulsa/Boise State contest will take on top-seeded and 28th-ranked Rice on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

In women's action, 47th-ranked and second-seeded Tulsa (13-10) will meet the winner of the (#7) Nevada/(#10) Louisiana Tech match at 5:30 p.m. at the Appleton Tennis Center.

A TU victory would send the Golden Hurricane into a semifinal contest against the winner of the (#3) SMU/(#6) UTEP match. The match would begin at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Both championship matches will take place on Sunday with the women's final set to begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the men's championship match at approximately 12:30 p.m.
