TU Men's and Women's Tennis Teams Dominate Auburn

Ryan Livesay upset 78th-ranked Gabor Zoltan Pelva, 6-4, 6-4, in the No. 2 singles position.

Tulsa, Okla. - The Tulsa men's and women's tennis teams dominated the Auburn Tigers on Wednesday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on The University of Tulsa campus.

In men's action, 56th-ranked TU posted a huge 4-2 upset over the 22nd-ranked Tigers. Tulsa's Alejandro Tejerina and Aleksander Charpantidis overcame Tom George and Markus Schiller, 8-2, in the No. 2 doubles slot as Shunsuke Shimizu and Tom Murray posted an 8-4 win at the No. 3 position to give Tulsa the doubles point. Ryan Livesay and Dustin Taylor, however, fell in the top-slot to 19th-ranked Rameez Junaid and Andy Colombo, 8-4.

The men also netted three singles points to earn the victory as Livesay upset 78th-ranked Gabor Zoltan Pelva, 6-4, 6-4, in the No. 2 singles position and Tom Murray defeated Andre Boz, 6-4, 6-4, in the No. 5 slot. Shimizu posted the easiest victory for the men as he netted a 6-1, 6-3 victory over George. Tulsa's 65th-ranked Tejerina fell to 11th-ranked Junaid, 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 position.

On the women's side, 42nd-ranked TU posted a 5-2 win over the 68th-ranked Tigers. Tiffany Smith and Mariana Barrios defeated Isabel Rosenbrock and Sarah Suitor, 9-7, in the No. 2 doubles position, while Zoe Buhagiar and Daniela Muscolino netted an 8-5 win to earn the doubles point. TU's 54th-ranked tandem, Alicia Pillay and Aleksandra Durska, however, fell 8-7 in the No. 1 slot.

The Golden Hurricane also posted four singles victories to win the match. In the top-half of the lineup, Pillay netted a 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 score over Carolina Ramirez in the No. 1 position, while Durska finished 6-2, 6-4 over Petra Bercik in the No. 2 slot. Muscolino also netted a win as she overcame Liz Sauerborn, 6-3, 6-3, in the No. 3 position.

Donata Majauskaite posted a victory for TU as she finished her match in two tiebreakers, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5).
