Livesay, Tejerina Earn Intercollegiate Tennis Association Honors

Tulsa senior Ryan Livesay was named the Regional Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Farnsworth Senior Player of the Year.

Tulsa, Okla. - Tulsa senior Ryan Livesay was named the Regional Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Farnsworth Senior Player of the Year, while junior Alejandro Tejerina garnered the Regional ITA Player to Watch award, as announced today by the ITA.

Livesay qualified for the 2003 NCAA Division I Men's Singles Tennis Championships, and with partner Dustin Taylor, qualified for the Doubles Championships. He posted a 17-17 singles record, including a 12-10 dual mark this season, and with Taylor, notched a 20-15 record while facing 10 ranked opponents.

This year, Livesay has been named the Region V Doubles Champion with Taylor, and named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week on February 17. He also earned all-WAC second team honors in both singles and doubles. In Livesay's two years as a member of the Golden Hurricane team, he has notched a 38-34 overall singles record and posts a 47-25 doubles mark.

Tejerina garnered his second Regional ITA Player to Watch award, earning the honor last year. He was also named the 2001 ITA Region V Rookie Player of the Year his freshman year.

Tejerina qualified for the 2003 NCAA Division I Men's Singles Tennis Championships as he registered a 23-13 singles mark this year, and finished the regular season as the 61st-ranked player in the nation. In doubles action, he put up a 14-13 record, including a 10-9 mark with freshman Aleksander Charpantidis.

Tejerina was named the Region V Singles Tennis Champion last fall and earned WAC Player of the Week honors on January 19, 2003. Tejerina also received all-WAC singles first-team honors this spring.

Since receiving these awards, both Livesay and Tejerina are national candidates for their respective honors.
