Livesay and Taylor Advance in NCAA Doubles Championship

Ryan Livesay (pictured) and Dustin Taylor posted an impressive 7-5, 6-4 upset over Florida's 16th-ranked duo to advance to tomorrow's round of 16.

Athens, Georgia - Tulsa's doubles tandem, Ryan Livesay and Dustin Taylor, advanced in the NCAA Doubles Championship, while teammate Alejandro Tejerina fell in the second round of singles competition at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia on Thursday afternoon.

Livesay and Taylor posted an impressive 7-5, 6-4 upset over Florida's 16th-ranked duo, Hamid Mirzadeh and Chris McDonald, to advance to tomorrow's round of 16. Livesay and Taylor own a 21-15 mark on the year and began the season as the 20th-ranked doubles tandem, but fell out of the ITA rankings on March 26th. The duo was named the Region V Doubles Champions and received all-Western Athletic Conference singles and doubles first-team honors.

Tejerina lost a 6-3, 6-0 decision to Middle Tennessee State's 17th-ranked Daniel Klemetz, after advancing to the round of 32 with his upset over Florida State's 34th-ranked Mat Cloer in yesterday's competition. Tejerina boasts a 24-14 singles record on the year, including a 5-7 record against ranked opponents.
