Livesay and Taylor Fall in NCAA Doubles Championship Quarterfinals

Athens, Georgia - Ryan Livesay and Dustin Taylor fell in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship today at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia.

Illinois' ninth-ranked Rajeev Ram and Brian Wilson overtook the Golden Hurricane tandem after three sets. In the first set, Livesay and Taylor surprised the Illinois duo with a 7-5 upset, but Tulsa fell in a tough second set 6-4. TU couldn't hold on to the match, dropping the final set 6-1.

Livesay and Taylor netted a 22-16 mark on the year and faced 11 opponents ranked in the top-50. They began the season as the 20th-ranked doubles tandem, but came into the NCAA tournament unranked. The duo was named the Region V Doubles Champions, received all-Western Athletic Conference singles and doubles first-team honors, and achieved All-America status by advancing to the round of 16 in the NCAA Doubles Championships.

"This was a good way to end the year for Ryan and Dustin," Head Coach Vince Westbrook said. "For them to make All-American is a big honor and it shows that they have really developed at The University of Tulsa. For Ryan to end his collegiate career like this is really great, and with Dustin returning next year he has really put himself in a position to have a great senior season."
