Hurricane Women Golfers Place Seventh at Regional Challenge

Palos Verdes, California - The Tulsa women's golf team opened the spring season with a seventh-place finish at the 15-team Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Wednesday. Tulsa carded a final round 309 after rounds of 308 and 307 for a 924 total at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.
Tulsa senior Julie Tvede paced the Hurricane with a second-place overall finish for her third top-5 performance in her career. She carded a final round 75 after consecutive even-par 71s in the first two rounds. Tvede finished 10 strokes behind individual medalist Charlotte Mayorkas of UCLA, who scored a six-under par 207 for the 54 holes.
Tvede played even-par through the first nine holes, with birdies on holes 2 and 7 and bogey's on holes 6 and 9. On the back nine, Tvede bogeyed holes 13 and 14 and had a double bogey on 15. She sank birdie putts on holes 14 and 15 a day earlier.
UCLA led from start to finish to claim the team title with an 876 total after scoring a final round 297. The Bruins were followed by New Mexico (908), Ohio State (914), Arizona (919) and USC (921) rounding out the top-five teams. Oklahoma State (922) finished in sixth place followed by Tulsa and Pepperdine (924), California (925) and Georgia (926) rounded out the top-10 teams.
Hurricane senior Suzie Fisher placed 21st overall with her third straight round of 76 for a 228 total, followed by sophomore Cas Bridge's 239 total and newcomer Lee-Anne Pace's 240. Bridge and Pace finished in 49th and 51st place, respectively.
Sophomore Courtney Jones carded a final round 83 and finished in 80th place overall.
The Hurricane will be in action next at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic at the Dorado Del Mar Country Club in Dorado, Puerto Rico, February 22-24.
