Tulsa, Okla. - Tulsa senior Dustin Taylor and sophomore Daniela Muscolino were selected to participate in the 2004 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Singles Tennis Championships, as announced today. Taylor and classmate Alejandro Tejerina will also take part in the doubles championships, with brackets and times to be announced at a later date.

On the men's side, Taylor, the nation's 61st-ranked singles player, will be making his second NCAA Tournament appearance. He posted a 12-14 singles mark this year, including a 5-7 record against ranked opponents.

The Golden Hurricane's No. 1 doubles tandem, Taylor and Tejerina, combined to post a 19-11 doubles record, including a 5-8 mark against ranked opponents, earning them all-Western Athletic Conference doubles first team honors. The duo is currently the 43rd-ranked tandem in the nation.

Last season, Taylor gained All-America status with Ryan Livesay (2001-03), advancing to the 2003 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Doubles Championships Round of 16 in Athens, Ga.

"I am very proud of Dustin and Alejandro," Head Men's Tennis Coach Vince Westbrook said. "The team was disappointed yesterday, but we are very happy these two will represent The University of Tulsa in the individual singles and doubles championships. They have both had tremendous collegiate careers and it is a great achievement to be able to conclude their careers at the NCAA Tournament."

For the TU women, Muscolino, the nation's 51st-ranked singles player, will be making her first NCAA Tournament appearance. Muscolino has registered a 23-7 singles record, including a 6-2 mark against ranked opponents this year. She has also earned all-WAC first team singles and doubles accolades this season.

Muscolino is the fourth women's tennis player to participate in the singles tournament since 1998.
