Tulsa Men's Tennis Sweeps Second Opponent of Opening Day

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa men's tennis team won their second match of their first day of the 2005 season by defeating Lamar 7-0 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
TU's No. 41-ranked doubles tandem of Achim Roth and Aleksander Charpantidis led the Golden Hurricane's double charge as they posted an easy victory over Dean Clower and Ignacio Melus, 8-1. For the second straight match the pairing of Diego Camacho and Andy Connelly came out on top, this time defeating Emilio Kirby and Juan Pablo Alatorre, 8-5. Will Gray and Lucques Maasdorp closed out the doubles competition with an 8-3 win over Christian Olivier and Emmanuel Olivier. By winning the three doubles matches, Tulsa claimed the doubles point in the duel match.
Tulsa's dominance continued in singles as all six players came out victorious. Achim Roth remained in the top spot of TU's line-up, as he claimed a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Emilio Kirby. Aleksander Charpantidis, in his first match of the duel season, posted a 6-4, 6-2 win against Juan Pablo Alatorre. Ricardo Soriano, in TU's number 3 spot in the line-up, prevailed over Ignacio Melus, 6-3, 6-4.
Diego Camacho, Will Gray, and Lucques Maasdorp also posted wins for Tulsa. Tulsa now improves to 2-0 on the year.
The Golden Hurricane men will return to action Sunday at 10 a.m. against Creighton.
