Kuna, Idaho - The Tulsa women's golf team will be looking for a seventh straight Western Athletic Conference Championship as play begins Monday, April 18, at the Falcon Crest Golf Club. The Championship event will take place Monday-Wednesday, April 18-20 on the par-72 course. The tournament will be the last for the Hurricane as a member of the WAC, as Tulsa becomes a member of Conference USA on July 1.

Tulsa has dominated the past six years, winning an unprecedented six conference titles. The Hurricane has also had five WAC individual medalists in the past six years -- Niina Laitinen in 1998 and '99, and Stacy Prammanasudh in 2001 and '02 won two titles apiece, while Julie Tvede captured the 2003 crown.

Tulsa is led by senior Lee-Anne Pace who has placed among the top-10 in each of the last five tournaments. She finished in fourth place at last year's WAC Championships. Junior Cas Bridge is coming off of a career-best second-place performance at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic. Bridge is the only Golden Hurricane golfer to have played in more than one conference tournament. She finished in 12th place as a true freshman in 2003 and had a 10th place finish last year.

A year ago, the Hurricane won its sixth straight WAC Championship by four strokes over second-place San Jose State. Tulsa carded rounds of 294-307-296 for an 897 total at the Underwood Golf Complex in El Paso, Texas. The Hurricane entered the final round trailing the Spartans by one stroke, 600-601, but made up five strokes on the final 18 holes.

In 2003, Tulsa put its name in the WAC records book by becoming the first school to win five straight league titles, as well as the first school to ever win five conference crowns in league history. Tulsa shot rounds of 305-309-300 for a 914 total to claim the WAC Championship at the Kapolei Golf Course in Kapolei, Hawaii.

Tulsa and New Mexico were tied for most league crowns with four WAC Championships before the Hurricane established a new conference record of five titles in the 2003 season.
