TU Men's Tennis Team Loses to Oklahoma

Norman, Okla. - The No. 37-ranked Tulsa men's tennis team lost to No. 48 Oklahoma 6-1, Thursday in Norman at the Headington Family Tennis Center. This was the first loss for Tulsa in four matches, dropping their record to 14-9.
TU faced three ranked players in the first three ladder positions in singles play. OU's No. 43-ranked Marek Velicka defeated Aleksander Charpantidis, 7-6, 6-2. Ricardo Soriano lost to No. 104 Ondrej Fukala, 5-7, 0-6. No. 81 Alexei Ivanov beat Federico Soriano in three sets, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.
Lucques Maasdorp posted TU's only singles win in the number six ladder position, when he posted a 7-6, 6-4 win over Lee Gregg.
Tulsa lost the doubles point as the tandem Aleksander Charpantidis and Achim Roth and the duo of Diego Camacho and Andy Connelly lost to their OU counterparts 8-5. Lucques Maasdorp and Ricardo Soriano recorded Tulsa's lone doubles win as they defeated Alexei Ivanov and Federico Chavarria, 9-7.
The Golden Hurricane return to action in its final home match of the season, Wednesday, April 13, at 5:30 p.m. against No. 11 Oklahoma State at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. The game will be shown live on Cox Channel 3.
