Golden Hurricane Men Dominate at Wilson/ITA Central Regional

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa's men's squad dominated on day three of the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships, with three singles and three doubles teams staying alive in the tournament.
In singles, Ricardo Soriano, Will Gray and Federico Soriano all advanced on to the quarterfinals. Ricardo Soriano used a 6-4, 6-2 win over Ivan Mendoza of Drake to advance, while Gray also won in straight set, 6-2, 6-1, over Tyronne Hill of Oral Roberts. Federico Soriano fought back after dropping the opening set 1-6, to win the final two sets 6-3, 6-3 and advance.
In doubles play, three TU teams each won two game to advance to the semifinals, giving Tulsa three of the four teams in the semis.
Arnau Brugues a Federico Soriano first beat Villanueva and Lebedev of Arkansas, 8-1, before taking out Lagarda and Nograbat of Illinois State in the quarterfinals, 8-3.
Diego Camacho and Ross Cunningham picked up a pair of 8-4 wins, first over Farquharson and Hill of Oral Roberts and the second over Vujaklija and Gubic of Wichita State.
Ricardo Soriano and Lucques Maasdorp also used a pair of 8-4 wins to move on, with their first coming against Strode and Mascall of Arkansas and the second against Velicka and Chavarria of Oklahoma.
Play will continue on Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
