Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa men's soccer senior duo of Lawson Vaughn and Daniel Wasson were each selected in the 2006 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft on January 26, 2006. Vaughn was the 25th pick overall by Chivas USA, while Wasson went to the Colorado Rapids with the 38th pick.

A total of 12 MLS teams completed their acquisition of players through the draft system. The player pool was made up of talent that went unselected in the MLS SuperDraft, as well as additional players nominated by the clubs.

A 5'10" midfielder from Marietta, Georgia, Vaughn was a two-year starter and letterwinner for the Golden Hurricane for the past two seasons. He began his career at the University of South Carolina, where he played two seasons before transferring to Tulsa prior to the 2004 campaign. During his stint as a Golden Hurricane, he started 42 of 43 career games played and produced three goals and seven assists for 13 points, and he earned Missouri Valley Conference and all-Midwest Region second team honors in 2004.

Wasson is a 5'10" midfield/defender from Colorado Springs, Colorado, who was a two-year starter and letterwinner at Tulsa. Wasson transferred to TU prior to the 2004 campaign after playing his first two years at the United States Air Force Academy. He started all 43 games as a Golden Hurricane and chalked up eight goals and six assists for 22 points over the last two seasons. In 2004, he was an all-MVC first team performer and was named to the all-Midwest region second team, and also garnered the team's Defensive MVP award. He completed his career as a three-time all-conference performer and two-time all-region selection.

With Vaughn and Wasson in the line-up, TU won 19 games, recorded a pair of conference runner-up finishes and advanced to the 2004 NCAA Tournament national quarterfinals.

Three players from the 2005 Golden Hurricane squad were selected by the MLS. Senior Kyle Brown was drafted in the third round (35th pick overall) by the New England Revolution.

The Supplemental Draft was added in 2005 to help MLS teams fill out rosters that were expanded to 28 players. Eighteen of those will be considered members of the senior roster, while the remaining 10 will be part of the developmental roster. Developmental players do not count against the MLS salary cap. All 12 MLS teams will soon begin their preseason training camps. The 2006 MLS season will begin on April 1, with all 12 teams in action on the opening weekend.
