Tulsa Holds On For 63-59 Win Over Tulane

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Anthony Price had 19 points and nine rebounds, and Tulsa held off a late Tulane rally for a 63-59 win Saturday.
Tulane (6-8, 11-16 Conference USA) trailed 53-31 with 8:27 left and its leading scorer, Quincy Davis, on the bench with five fouls. The Green Wave switched to a full-court press and went on a 27-6 run to pull within 59-58 with 1:22 remaining on a layup by Andrew Garcia.
Tulsa's Dion James banked in a runner with 58 seconds left to put Tulsa (6-8, 11-16) ahead 61-58 and then made two free throws with 13 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Golden Hurricane.
Price and Chris Wallace spurred a 21-6 Tulsa run early in the second half. Tulsa led 29-24 when Wallace started the run with consecutive three-point plays on driving baskets. Price scored three straight field goals and Charles Ramsdell scored on a layup to give Tulsa a 53-31 lead before Tulane made its charge.
Donnie Stith led Tulane with 12 points, while David Gomez added 11 and Ryan Williams scored 10.
The Hurricane closed out the regular season with two more wins than each of the previous two seasons, when the Hurricane went 9-20 each season.
Tulsa will go into the Conference USA Tournament presented by Aeropostale as the No. 6 seed and play No. 11 seed Southern Miss. The Hurricane defeated Southern Miss earlier this season in Tulsa, 72-63. The game will be played at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn.
Tulsa was picked in the preseason to finish in ninth place in the league's preseason poll by the coaches and media.
The Tulsa-Southern Miss winner will face the No. 3 seed UTEP on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
