Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa women's golf team is one of 21 teams that will open up play on Thursday, May 11, at the 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships Regional Tournament.

Tulsa received an at-large bid in the Central Region, which will be played on the par-72 Traditions Course at Texas A&M University in College Station Texas, May 11-13.

Since the regional format was adopted in 1993 Tulsa has made all but one regional tournament appearance. The Hurricane has won one regional title, with that coming in 2001 and 2002 in the Central Region.

Tulsa is led by all-conference sophomores Michaela Cavener and Leisl Hasbrouck. Cavener was a first-team selection, while Hasbrouck earned second-team all-C-USA accolades.

Cavener has finished among the top-20 in eight of nine tournaments this year. Her best finish was fourth-place at The "Mo" Morial, played on the same course that the NCAA Central Regional takes place. Cavener has a team-leading 75.0 stroke average.

Hasbrouck has tallied a 76.7 stroke average in 27 rounds this year. She placed among the top-25 in five tournaments, including a career-best second-place finish at The Landfall Tradition.

Senior Cas Bridge turned in her best finish of the season with a fourth place performance at the Conference USA Championships in Tulsa's last outing.

Twenty-one teams will compete for the Central Regional title, including nine teams ranked among the nation's top-25. No. 1 ranked Duke headlines the field, followed by #2 Southern California, #7 Pepperdine, #12 Texas A&M, #13 Florida, #18 Ohio State, #19 Oklahoma State, #20 Kent State and #24 Michigan State.

Tulsa goes into the tournament ranked 33rd nationally.

The top eight teams and two individuals will advance from three regional tournaments to the NCAA Championships finals, May 23-26, at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
