Tulsa, Oklahoma - University of Tulsa `s Holley (Morris) Hair has resigned her position as the head coach of the Golden Hurricane women's golf team after four years at the helm of the program, it was announced today. Hair leaves the coaching ranks to spend more time with her family and private business.
In four years, Hair led the Golden Hurricane to three Western Athletic Conference titles in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Her teams advanced to two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2003 and 2005. She coached seven first-team all-conference selections and had four second-team performers.
This past year, Hair led Tulsa to a third-place finish at the Conference USA Championships. She was only the third coach in the history of the program since its inception in 1974.
In her first season, Hair led the Hurricane to two first-place finishes while earning WAC Coach of the Year honors. She coached the WAC Newcomer of the Year, Christine Fernandez, in 2003, and the WAC Player of the Year and second-team All-American, Lee-Anne Pace, in 2005.
A former TU golfer, Hair played at Tulsa from 1981-85, and was a member of the 1982 team that won the AIAW and NCAA national titles.
Hair and her husband, Jason, have two young daughters and have been co-owners of Tee Town Golf Ranch in Tulsa since 1994.
"I have completely enjoyed my four years coaching at The University of Tulsa, as I did my time attending TU on a golf scholarship. I am sad to be leaving but excited to spend more time with my family. It's difficult to give the golf program and these young ladies 100-percent with the time constraints that I have with my family and business," said Hair.
"Tulsa has such a great tradition in women's golf, and I know that will continue with the support that the golfing community and the University provides," added Hair.
Tulsa will conduct a national search for a new head coach.
