Tulsa, Okla. -
The University of Tulsa men's soccer team struggled against Centenary on Tuesday night, falling 1-0 to the Gents at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium on the TU campus. Centenary midfielder Brody Sager scored the lone goal in the game off a direct kick in the 77th minute. The Golden Hurricane is now 3-6 on the year, while Centenary moved to 3-7.Tulsa had three shots in the first 10 minutes, but couldn't put one into the net. The Golden Hurricane's best scoring opportunity came in the 22nd minute, when junior forward Todd Goddard's shot was blocked by the Gents after goalie James Speed was out of position.
"We got frustrated," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "We had some chances early in the game, but didn't score. We couldn't connect on passes and we stopped doing what we are use to doing, and never refocused our energy. We let them [Centenary] in the game. You have to give them credit for fighting for the win and sticking to their game plan."
Goddard finished with three shots on the night, two of which were on goal, while freshman Jose Parada, sophomore Eric DeFreitas and junior Brian McCurdy all had two shots apiece. Dominic Cervi played all 90 minutes in goal for Tulsa, picking up two saves.
The Golden Hurricane will take to the road this Saturday, September 30th to take on Memphis in Tennessee, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
