Golden Hurricane Open Season With Wins Over Lamar and UALR

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa men's tennis team opened the 2007 spring season with a pair of 6-1 victories over Lamar and Arkansas-Little Rock on the season's opening weekend.
TU kicked things off on Friday with a 6-1 defeat of Lamar. The Hurricane swept the doubles point with the No. 8 ranked team of Diego Camacho and Ross Cunningham taking a 9-8 (7-5) win at the one position. The No. 12 ranked duo of Arnau Brugues and Federico Soriano picked up an 8-4 win at the two position, while 43rd-ranked Ricardo Soriano and Lucques Maasdorp completed the sweep with an 8-2 win.
No. 6-ranked Brugues led the way in singles with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Filip Kanczula at the one position.
Tulsa also swept the three through six position in the singles portion with Ricardo Soriano, Federico Soriano Camacho and Cunningham all picking up straight set victories.
Lamar's lone win came at the two position with Mario Janjic upsetting Tulsa's No. 34 Will Gray by scores of 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
TU moved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-1 win over Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday.
The Golden Hurricane again swept the doubles point with Camacho and Cunningham posting an 8-3 win at the one position, Brugues and Federico Soriano posting an 8-2 win at the two position and Ricardo Soriano and Maasdorp adding an 8-3 win at the three.
Tulsa swept the one through three positions with Brugues, Gray and Ricardo Soriano posting straight-set wins. Cuningham added a three-set win at the five and Maasdorp won at the six in straight sets.
UALR's only win came at the four position with German Perez posting a 6-3, 6-1 win over Federico Soriano.
TU will next be in action on January 19-20 with the Central Region Indoor Qualifier.
