Cancun, Mexico - Larrissa Williams scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for Tulsa in a 69-63 victory over Belmont on Tuesday afternoon in the Caribbean Classic at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico. Tulsa moved to 3-8 on the season, while Belmont fell to 6-6.
Williams' double-double was her ninth of her career, while she also tallied two steals and a block in the contest. Freshmen Kara Vaughan and ReShawndra Jackson registered 10 points apiece, as Vaughan notched seven rebounds and Jackson posted a team-leading five assists.
TU and the Bruins traded baskets early in the game and tied the game four times, before the Golden Hurricane went on a 14-6 run to take an eight-point advantage into the break.
Belmont came out in the second half and inched their way closer to Tulsa, tying the game 43-43 with 12:13 left to play. Again, TU and BU traded baskets, but the Golden Hurricane came out on top.
Four Bruins scored in double-digits, including Jessica Bobbitt (16), Brooke Sunday (14), Amber Rockwell (13) and Brittany Myers (10). Sunday also led the Bruins in rebounds with eight and steals with three.
TU will face Oregon in the same tournament tomorrow beginning at 7:30 p.m.
