Brugues Earns Academic Honors

Arnau Brugues has earned First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI honors.

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa men's tennis player Arnau Brugues has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team and will now be eligible for Academic All-American selection.

Brugues, the No. 7 ranked player in the nation and the No. 6 seed at the 2007 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Singles Championship, garners first team honors with a 3.65 GPA in exercise sport science and an impressive athletic resume.

Brugues, a junior, is a reining NCAA All-American and the defending champion of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championship, which he won in the fall. His championship was the first national championship for tennis at Tulsa or for Conference USA.

He sports a 29-6 record and has advanced to the second round of the NCAA Singles Championship in Athens, Ga. He has amassed an 18-6 record against ranked opponents and has put together a career record of 48-9.
