Tulsa to Face Eighth-Ranked SMU This Friday

Tulsa, Okla. - The 18th-ranked Tulsa men's soccer team will host eighth-ranked SMU in the first Conference USA game of the season on Friday, Sept. 28 at the Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.

TU enters the contest with a 5-2 mark, after posting a 3-1 upset victory over #4 Creighton last Saturday, while the Mustangs own a 4-2-1 record and are coming off a 3-2 double-overtime win over Oral Roberts nearly a week ago in Dallas.

Tulsa will be led by a trio of seniors, Todd Goddard, Eric Burkholder and Dominic Cervi. Goddard leads TU and the league in goals with six, is second in C-USA in points with 12 and fourth in shots with 23. Burkholder, on the other hand, is second among the league's best in assists with five and has seven points this season for the Golden Hurricane. Cervi has yet to miss a minute in goal, logging all 635:01 in the net for TU. He has recorded 30 saves in 2007 for 156 career saves. He has also only allowed eight goals for a 1.13 goals-against average this season.

Bruno Guarda leads the Mustangs this season with four goals and six assists for 14 points, while Dane Saintus and Richard Oliva have tallied three goals apiece.

The Golden Hurricane and SMU have met 30 times, with the Mustangs boasting a 23-5-2 advantage in the series.
