The Higher Seeds Win in the Finals

Tulsa, Okla.- The University of Tulsa hosted the Finals of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championship, today at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the TU campus.
In the singles final of the main draw, the fourth ranked Travis Helgeson of Georgia held off USC's Robert Farah (5-7, 6-4, 6-4). Helgeson beat 15th ranked Ivan Puchkarov of Oklahoma State, before defeating Somdev Devvarman, the top-ranked player, in the semifinals to earn a spot in the finals. Farah moved through the qualifying draw to reach the main draw. In reaching the finals, Farah defeated the 13th ranked player Virginia's Treat Huey and the 10th ranked Greg Ouellette of Florida.
In the doubles final, top-ranked pair from Virginia, Sondev Devvarman and Treat Huey defeated Mississippi's duo of Jonas Berg and Earling Tveit (6-2, 7-5). Virginia's team defeated the 22nd ranked pair from TCU, Cosmin Cotet and Kriegler Brink in the quarterfinals, before defeating Tulsa's pair of Andy Connelly and Ross Cunningham, ranked 40th, in the semifinals.
The 31st ranked player, Bassam Beidas of Pepperdine defeated Ohio State's Justin Kronauge (6-3, 6-2) in the finals of the back draw. In the doubles final of the back draw, the 23rd rank pair, Denver's Adam Holmstrom and Niklas Persson defeated the 21st ranked duo of Robert Farah and Kaes Van't Hof from USC (8-4).
