Greenville, N.C. - Sophomore Larissa Williams posted her ninth double-double of the season for The University of Tulsa women's basketball team, however it was not enough as TU dropped it's a 62-52 decision to East Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Minges Coliseum. The Golden Hurricane moved to 7-11 on the season and 3-2 in Conference USA, while the Pirates moved to 7-11 overall and 1-4 in the league.

Tulsa got off to a 7-0 lead in the contest, but ECU countered to pull within one, 7-6, at the 13:24 mark, before TU jumped ahead again 16-8. The Pirates, however, continued to climb their way back and tied the game 20-20 with just over three minutes remaining in the half. Tulsa took a 28-23 advantage into the break, the first time during Conference USA play that TU held the lead at halftime.

In the second half, East Carolina came out fired up, registering an 11-point run that spanned just over two minutes to take a 40-36 lead with 13:25 on the clock and never relinquished the lead. After a jumper by junior Chanel Johnson cut the ECU lead to 46-43, pulling TU within three with 6:40 left in the game.

Williams led the Hurricane scorers with 16 points to go long with 10 rebounds. Freshman ReShawndra Jackson added 10 points for the Hurricane, while sophomore Teka Brooks also contributed seven rebounds inside. The Pirates, last season's C-USA Championship title holder, was led by junior Jasmine Young's 23 points.

The Golden Hurricane will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 26th against SMU. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas.
