Tulsa's Brugues Wins Singles Championship at ITA Regionals

Fayetteville, Ark. - Arnau Brugues defeated Matt Hogan of Arkansas, 6-2, 6-4, in the Main Draw Singles final to win the ITA Central Region Singles Championship on Monday at the Dills Indoor Stadium on University of Arkansas campus. Brugues, the No. 6-ranked player in the nation, did not lose a single set throughout the entire tournament, earning a 6-0 record including two wins over nationally-ranked opponents.
It is the first-time in Brugues' storied career that he has won the ITA Regionals singles title. Brugues moves his singles record to 13-2 on the season, including a 6-2 mark against ranked opponents.
As a team, the Hurricane had a successful tournament by sending four singles players into the Round of 16 and one doubles team into the quarterfinals. James Seagraves, Marko Ballok and Alberto Sottocorno joined Brugues by advancing to the Main Draw Singles Round of 16. Patrick Collins and Rusty Turpin made it to the quarterfinals in Main Draw Doubles.
Up next for Tulsa is the ITA National Indoor Championships on Nov. 6-9 at The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
