Tulsa Cruises to 88-60 Win over Dallas Baptist

Tulsa, Oklahoma - Sophomore Justin Hurtt led five Tulsa players in double-figures with a game-high 22 points and all 13 suited players saw action for the Hurricane in an 88-60 victory over Dallas Baptist on Monday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
The exhibition game in front of 4,559 fans was the final tune-up before Saturday's home opener against city rival Oral Roberts.
Bishop Wheatley added 14 points for the Hurricane, followed by 11 points each from Ben Uzoh, Glenn Andrews and Jerome Jordan. The seven-foot Jordan also had a game-high 10 rebounds and four blocks, while Uzoh added a game-best eight assists.
Tulsa connected on 52-percent of its shots for the game, including 12-of-21 from three-point range for a .571 percentage. The Hurricane had 23 assists while forcing 17 Patriot turnovers.
The Hurricane cruised in the second half building its largest lead of 36 points twice. Tulsa opened the second half on a 15-4 run in the first eight minutes after intermission to take a 32-point lead at 63-31. Two Joe Richard free throws put the Hurricane ahead by 36 for the first time, 69-33, at the 10:20 mark.
Tulsa's lead fluctuated from 25 to 36 points in the final 10 minutes as the Hurricane posted the 28-point victory.
Tulsa had a 21-point halftime lead, 48-27, behind 17 points from Hurtt. Uzoh added eight points, eight assists and five rebounds in the first half for the Hurricane.
Tulsa began the game on a 14-0 and jumped out to an 18-3 lead with 12:54 on the clock. The Patriots scored their first basket at the 14:18 mark of the first half, and trimmed the Hurricane lead to the closest they would get the rest of the night at 19-11 with 9:26 remaining in the first half.
After that, Tulsa scored 26 points in the final eight minutes of the first half but ended the first 20 minutes with a 21-point lead.
Tulsa ended the preseason with a 2-0 mark and increased its career record to 50-2 in exhibition contests including 22 consecutive victories.
