Tulsa Head Coach Doug Wojcik
Opening statement:
"This is a great win for us against a very good team. They have three seniors in their lineup, Wade Knapp is a crafty post player, Laurie was good and I thought we did a great job on Chris Cooks. Kyle Weems is going to be a fantastic player and I don't look forward to playing against him the next three years, because he was really good tonight.
"The silver lining tonight was that we won a game at the free-throw line. We have been shooting poorly and we drove the ball well, and we went to the free throw line and converted."
On Jerome Jordan's game:
"I wanted him to slow things down, relax and keep things simple. I thought he came back and really produced with 21 points and nine rebounds in just 19 minutes.
"There always has to be some sort of way to motivate, and some sort of consequence to the way you perform. He's a great kid and you don't have to get after him or anything like that, but I thought let's just slow things down. Steven Idlet has played very hard and has been practicing well, so I thought he deserved the start tonight. I think it is great to have a combination of two guys who can score in post. I don't want to make a big deal about it because Jerome would have been on the floor in the end if weren't for foul trouble."
Junior Center Jerome Jordan
On his performance:
"It was important for me to go out and prove myself early and not worry about double teams and whatever defenses they were going to throw at me. Coach told me he was disappointed in how I had been playing lately, and Steven Idlet has been playing so well that he wanted to reward Steven with a start. It was a good choice. I was more motivated to come out and pick up where I left off last year, and just play aggressive."
