Tulsa Women's Hoops Fall to UTEP, 58-44

Tulsa, Okla. - Larrissa Williams tallied 16 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks for Tulsa on Saturday afternoon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center, but it wasn't enough as the Golden Hurricane fell 58-44 to UTEP. TU fell to 9-12 on the season and 5-3 in Conference USA, while the Miners moved to 17-2 overall and 8-0 in the league.
Tulsa got on the board first off a three-pointer by freshman ReShawndra Jackson, and Chanel Johnson put the Golden Hurricane up 5-2. UTEP's Timika Williams posted a layup at the 17:25 mark to put the Miners ahead 7-6, and they never relinquished the lead, taking a 30-22 advantage into the break.
UTEP continued to inch ahead in the second half, earning a 17-point game-best lead twice in the contest.
Jackson put up nine points and seven rebounds, while Kara Vaughan totaled three steals for the Golden Hurricane.
For the Miners, Timika Williams had a game-leading 20 points, and added a team-best seven rebounds, while Jareica Hughes recorded seven steals in the contest.
Tulsa will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 7th at Houston. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Hofheinz Pavilion.
