Tulsa Women's Hoops To Host Houston This Thursday

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa women's basketball team returns action this Thursday, February 21st against Houston. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

The Golden Hurricane and UH have met five times in school history, with Tulsa owning a 3-2 advantage in the series. Houston, however, won the previous meeting this season, a 63-49 decision in Houston on February 7th.

TU owns a 9-16 overall mark and a 5-7 record in Conference USA, and is led by Larrissa Williams and Chanel Johnson who each average double-digits with 14.2 ppg and 10.4 ppg, respectively. Williams also has a team-best 9.9 rpg, while Tatum Beer leads TU with 76 assists and 43 steals on the year.

Tulsa ranks first among all Conference USA schools in blocked shots and is fourth in the NCAA, tallying 157 blocks for a 6.28 average per game. Johnson leads the league with 70 blocks, the 11th-most in the NCAA, while Williams is fifth with 48 and Teka Brooks is ninth with 22. Kara Vaughan also ranks among the league's best as she is third with a .392 3-point field goal percentage, and Tatum Beer is seventh with 1.88 3-point field goals made per game. Williams is third among the league's best and 20th in the nation with 9.9 rpg.

The Cougars are off to a 14-12 start to the season and an 8-4 record in Conference USA. Houston is on a three-game losing streak, after winning their previous eight contests, including a 73-69 loss to Tulane last Saturday. They are led by a trio of players averaging double-digit points per game, including Twiggy McIntyre (15.1), Tye Jackson (10.8) and Courtney Taylor (10.0). Taylor has a team-best 8.7 rebounds per game, while Jackson leads the team in assists with 117 and McIntyre has a team-leading 45 steals. Cobilyn Hill has the fourth-most blocks in the league with 56.
