Camden, N.J. - The University of Tulsa's Novice 4+ captured the gold medal, while the Lightweight 4+ earned the silver medal on Sunday morning at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey.

The Golden Hurricane turned in a time of 7:59.1 in the Novice 4+ event, more than 14 seconds ahead of second-place Lafayette, for a solid performance in a field of 35 boats. This was TU's third gold medal in the event in four appearances at the Knecht Cup.

"The Novice 4+ put together three great races," Assistant Coach Julie Domina said. "The team accomplished what they set out to do, which was win the gold medal. I am very proud of their efforts this weekend."

In the Lightweight 4+ Grand Final, TU claimed the silver medal with a time of 7:49.3, less than eight seconds shy of the top mark of 7:41.7 set by Pittsburgh. The Hurricane topped the Panthers in yesterday's heat in a time of 7:43.7, and will face them again in the Dad Vail Regatta next month.

"I am very happy with how our Fours rowed today," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "We raced three of our five boats in the Grand Final and medaled in two events, but we are searching for more. We are not satisfied with how our Eights raced this weekend, but we are going to go back, mix it up and find some speed that will help us in the premier event."

TU's 2nd Varsity 8+ finished sixth in a field of 18 boats, while the Varsity 4+ registered a sixth-place mark in the Petite Finals.

TU will compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships next Saturday-Sunday, April 19-20, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
