Tulsa Basketball Team Wins Second Game on Canadian Road Trip

Walnut Grove, British Columbia - In its second game in less than eight hours, the Tulsa basketball team claimed an 81-75 exhibition victory over Trinity Western University on Saturday night behind 14-point performances from junior Ben Uzoh and freshman Armond Battle. Earlier in the day the Hurricane defeated the University of British Columbia 76-65.

Tulsa pulled out to a 44-34 halftime lead against Trinity Western after a 21-21 tie following one quarter of play. In the second half, Tulsa outscored TWU 20-16, but was outscored in the final period by the home team 25-17, as the Hurricane settled for the six-point victory.

Tulsa used 13 players, as 10 of those players saw double-digit playing time. Tulsa went with a starting lineup of Uzoh, Jerome Jordan, Ray Reese, Glenn Andrews and Bishop Wheatley.

Andrews added 13 points, followed by Reese with 9 and freshman Brandon Jackson with 8 points. Andrews and Jordan each had a team-high 7 rebounds, while Andrews also added a game-high 5 assists.

TWU out-shot the Hurricane 42 to 35-percent from the field and 38 to 32-percent from three-point range. Tulsa did connect on 78-percent of its free throws (25-of-32).

Tulsa closes out its three-game, two-day Canadian exhibition trip with a 3:00 pm (CT) game against the University College of the Fraser Valley.
