Tulsa Head Coach Doug Wojcik:
Opening statement...
"That was a devastating loss. I give our kids a lot of credit for fighting back and having the will to win. As a coach you sit here and question whether you put a man on the ball or go zone, all the scenarios go through your head. They had their senior Antonio Anderson score on a double-clutch lay up over Jerome Jordan. It was a hard-fought game and I give them credit but I'm disappointed.
"Two guys I want to point out are Jerome Jordan and Ben Uzoh, because we have two great players here at Tulsa. Both of them had great games and played 40 minutes. No way I would have sat here two years ago and said that Jerome Jordan would play 40 minutes in a big-time game. We just didn't take care of the ball and that's why we lost the game."
Memphis Head Coach John Calipari:
Opening statement...
"Every game that we play Tulsa, Doug Wojcik comes up with different things on how he is going to play. I thought in the second half they figured out what we were doing against Jerome Jordan, and I couldn't get my guys to go trap and Jordan just had his way. He's a great player. We were on him hands up and arms up and he still scored.
"We've got a ways to go. We have to get tougher because they came up with balls and were more physical. At some point a light has to turn on or this is going to be a short-lived season."
On the final play...
"That is a play that we run all of the time. Obviously, the decoy was Tyreke Evans and the ball was going to Antonio Anderson with our best shooter being in the ball-side corner. If he didn't have something going towards the rim I was going to call timeout, and when I saw that he had a lane to the rim I just closed my eyes and hoped it would go in."
