Tulsa Women's Basketball Team Hosts SMU This Sunday

TU is now 5-3 on the season at home, and looks to add to that winning tradition on Sunday.

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The University of Tulsa (5-10, 1-2 C-USA) women's basketball team will take on SMU (9-7, 2-1 C-USA) for the second time this season on Sunday, January 18th. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

This will be the final game of a three-game home stand for Tulsa, after defeating East Carolina and falling to Marshall last week. TU is now 5-3 on the season at home, and looks to add to that winning tradition on Sunday.

Larrissa Williams leads Tulsa, as she averages a double-double with 14.9 ppg and 10.2 rpg, as well as has a team-best 38 blocks. Her blocks and rebounds per game (2.53) are 17th and 18th, respectively, in the nation. Kara Vaughan and Chanel Johnson each average more than six points a game, while ReShawndra Jackson tallies 5.7 ppg.

Tulsa ranks among the league's top teams when it comes to rebounding and blocked shots this season. TU is fifth in rebounding margin (+1.7), second in offensive rebounds with 15.40 per game and sixth in defensive boards with 25.87 per game. The Golden Hurricane is also first in blocks per game, as nine players have combined for 72 blocks on the year for 4.8 bpg.

The Mustangs are coming off an 80-73 win over East Carolina, and have tallied a victory in five of their last six games. SMU is led by a trio of players scoring in double digits, including Brittany Gilliam who has a team-best 14.3 ppg, to go along with a team-leading 7.4 rpg, 69 assists and 40 steals. Delish Wills puts up 12.0 ppg, while Jillian Samuels is averaging 10.0 ppg.

When TU and SMU squared off the first time this season, SMU tallied a 67-56 win in Dallas, extending their advantage in the all-time series to 19-10.
